Crime and Justice in the Asia - West Pacific

James Backhouse, who brought Quakerism to Australia, was initially motivated by the wish to minister to the convicts sent there from Britain, and did much to alleviate conditions for them. Nowadays Friends in Australia and New Zealand  help to provide support to prisoners, run AVP workshops in prisons and the community, and are active campaigners for 'transformative justice'.
